Carson Soucy has committed to the University of Minnesota Duluth a Division I hockey program which plays out of the WCHA. Soucy is in only his first full season with the Saints and immediately garnered attention from the scouting community with his solid defensive play and opportunistic offensive ability. Soucy played 7 games with the Saints in 2011-2012 as a member of the Lloydminster Midget AAA Baker Hughes Bobcats before making the jump to the Saints roster this season. Carson has earned 12 points in 27 games so far this season and despite missing games to injury and representing Canada in the World Junior Fastball Championships he has helped solidify the Saints defense core and add an offensive option for the Saints coaching staff.
"I am very excited and relieved to have made the decision to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth," says Soucy. "I am excited to play for a top hockey school and now that the pressure is off to earn a commitment I can focus completely on hockey. I would like to thank the Spruce Grove Saints organization as well as my parents and grandparents for all of the support they have shown throughout my hockey career."
"Carson is a big strong defenseman that thinks the game very well," says Head Coach and General Manager Jason McKee. "He is a first year player that has stepped right into our lineup and made an immediate impact in all situations. I look forward to continue to work with Carson in all aspects of his game and help provide a platform to launch the next step of his athletic and academic pursuits."
