James Poole - Head Coach/General Manager
James Poole enters his 4th year with the Oilers organization, guiding the team last season to 2nd place in the AJHL South Division. Prior to coaching, James’ playing background included 3 seasons of NCAA college hockey at Lake Forest College in Illinois. In the three seasons prior, James coached the Calgary Midget AAA Buffaloes. In those 3 seasons, the Buffaloes won back-to-back AMHL & Pacific Regional championships on their way to 4th and 2nd place showings at the TELUS Cup National Midget Championship. Poole also led the Buffaloes to capture the 2008 Mac’s Midget Tournament Championship, the first local team to accomplish that fear in 10 years. During his Midget AAA tenure, Poole was honored with the 2008 Mac’s Midget Tournament Outstanding Coach and the 2010 AMHL Coach of the Year.
Tyler Deis - Assistant Coach
Tyler Deis is new to the Oilers coaching staff for the 2013-14 season. He has spent a cumulative eight years with the hockey program at Edge School in Calgary (including two years as the head coach of their prep team). As a player, Deis spent four years at Minnesota State as a Moorhead before playing five seasons of professional hockey in both the ECHL and CHL.
Blake Cosgrove - Assistant Coach
Blake Cosgrove is another new face on the Oilers bench for the 2013-14 season. While completing his Business Management degree at the University of Northern Michigan, Cosgrove spent 5 years playing for the Wildcats. He also brings with him a playing career that includes four years as a pro in Europe playing for the Frisk Tigers and Storhammer Dragons in Norway as well as the Reims Phoenix and Caen Drakkars in France.
Doug "Crash" Crashley - Strength & Conditioning Consultant
Brenden Anderson - Marketing Manager
Entering his first season with the Okotoks Oilers, Brenden has taken over the role of Marketing Manager with the team. A local Okotokian for the past 20 years, Brenden has grown up immersed in the Spirit of Okotoks and has been involved in minor sports programs since he moved here as a child.
Brenden has recently completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing at the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business and also holds a Public Relations Certificate from Mount Royal University. He has spent time working in various industries including banking, sales, oil and gas, and has done promotional work for many Fortune 500 companies.
Tara Kosek - Game Day Coordinator
A loyal volunteer since day 1 with the Oilers, Tara plays an integral part to the game day experience with the Okotoks Oilers. Tara's specialty is customer service, and ensuring the younger audience enjoys the Oilers experience during intermission events like the Safeway Shootout.
