The Okotoks Oilers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is proud to announce that 16-year old defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker has committed to the NCAA Division 1, University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, members of NCHC (National Collegiate Hockey Conference).
Bernard-Docker, in his first season with the Oilers and having played a current total of 46 games while acquiring 6 goals and 12 assists, has been an integral part of the Oilers success this season. A grassroots family guy and high academic student, Jacob’s character brings strength both on and off the ice. Even though he is the youngest on the bench, Jacob brings an element of professionalism both to the dressing room as well as out in the community. Working with programs like Bell’s Let’s Talk, the RCMP D.A.R.E. program, as well as many literacy programs in the local schools, Jacob has become a known team leader in our ranks.
The Okotoks Oilers Organization are excited for both Jacob and his family and look forward to having him elevate his performance with the Oilers for the remainder of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 AJHL seasons.
Bernard-Docker becomes the fifth player from the Okotoks Oilers organization who has committed to being a member of the Fighting Hawks. Jacob is in good company following in the footsteps of Brad Eidsness (5th round NHL draft pick for the Buffalo Sabres), Corban Knight (5th round NHL draft pick for the Florida Panthers), Derek Rodwell (5th round NHL draft pick for the New Jersey Devils), and most recently Rhett Gardner (4th round NHL draft pick for the Dallas Stars).
