Bernard-Docker & Holloway to Represent Team Canada West at World Junior A Challenge


Okotoks, AB (December 6, 2017) – Okotoks Oilers defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker (Canmore, AB) and centre Dylan Holloway (Bragg Creek, AB) have been selected as 2 of the 22 players to play for Team Canada West at World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia.


Bernard-Docker & Holloway are the 5th & 6th Oilers to don the Team Canada West jersey joining alumni Brad Eidsness (2007) Derek Rodwell (2008) Rhett Holland (2010, 2011) & Rhett Gardner (2013, 2014).

The tournament features 6 teams including Team Canada East along with the Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland, & the United States with Pre-Tournament games beginning December 8, 2017 followed by the beginning of the Round Robin on December 9 to December 16, 2017.

Bernard-Docker 17, is in his sophomore season with the Oilers and in 26 games has 21 points (9 goals, 17 assists) along with being tied in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the most shorthanded goals in the 2017-18 season (4). In the 2016-17 season Jacob scored 22 points in 54 games (7 goals, 15 assists) and committed to the NCAA Division 1 University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks.

In his rookie season Holloway 16, He’s sixth in AJHL Rookie scoring with 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists). It isn’t the first time this season as he was a member of Team Canada Red at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek & Fort St. John BC where he scored 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 6 games played helping to earn Canada Red a silver medal. In the 2016-17 off-season Holloway committed to the NCAA’s Division 1 University of Wisconsin Badgers.

Oilers Head Coach/General Manager & Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis says Bernard-Docker & Holloway will not only represent Team Canada West proud, but also the Okotoks Oilers, The Alberta Junior Hockey League and the Okotoks Community during the World Junior A Challenge.

Canada West will play in Group B in the Tournament, with the Czech Republic & the United States. They will play in a Pre-Tournament game against Russia on December 8 at the Amherst Stadium at 5:30 PM Mountain Standard Time and open the Round Robin Sunday November 10, 2017 against the Czech Republic at 1 PM MST at the RECC Arena in Truro, N.S. They’ll wrap up the round robin Tuesday, December 12, against the United States at 5 PM MST.
