Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend UPDATE

Much the same as in season's past, our 2013-14 Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend was a huge success once again this year! The Okotoks Oilers would like to thank each and every one of you who attended one or both of our games this week.

With your support, our fundraising efforts this year were once again outstanding. The final numbers haven't been tallied yet, but initial numbers show that our annual pink jersey auction raised over $5100 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation! On top of this, Cardel Homes has donated $250 for every Oiler goal scored during the weekend for a total of $1750 on 7 goals!

On Friday night, the Oilers fell to the Canmore Eagles in a shootout after losing an early lead in the game. Canmore pulled off the same late-game heroics in their match against Brooks the following night, winning once again 4-3 in a shootout. The big match of the weekend came on Saturday night when the Oilers played the 17-1-1 Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Even without some of their star players, the Okotoks Oilers managed to knock off the Oil Barons in overtime with a powerplay goal from Captain Robbie Fisher. When the dust settled from the weekend, the Oilers were still only three points behind Brooks for first place in the South.
