OKOTOKS, AB (October 31, 2023) — Okotoks Oilers defenceman Ethan O’Halloran (Calgary, AB) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.

O’Halloran, 20, scored four points (two goals, two assists) over the week, including a two-goal game in Drumheller in a 7-2 win over the Dragons on Thursday night.

It continued a career year for the veteran rearguard, who is just one point back of his career high in points in a season with less than a third of the campaign concluded, after signing with the Oilers from Cowichan Valley of the BCHL.

In 17 games this season, O’Halloran has scored a career high four goals, three of which have come on the power play, and added 11 assists. He is the fourth-highest scoring defenceman in the AJHL so far this year, and the first Oiler to win a league award this season.
