Hockey: Corban Knight’s rights traded from Panthers to Calgary

An Okotoks Jr. A Oiler alumnus’ hockey rights have been acquired by the NHL team closest to the Big Rock.
The Calgary Flames obtained the rights to High River native Corban Knight for a fourth-round draft choice from the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
“To have the potential to play so close to home in front of friends and family is very cool and a big bonus in this whole situation,” said Knight, a 2009 Holy Trinity Academy graduate.
Knight was the Alberta Junior Hockey League rookie of the year in 2008-09 when the centre led the Oilers in points with 72 (34G, 38A). The Florida Panthers drafted him in the fifth round the summer after his one season with the Oilers.
