Game day: Oilers vs Canucks preview

Family game day is here for the Oilers as they take on the 17-28-6-3 Calgary Canucks for a 4:15 PM start time.

This game all kids under the age of 18 get in free! As well as a free skate with the Oilers after the game as well!

Last time out

The Oilers fell to 33-19-1-2 after a 9-6 loss to the Blackfalds Bulldogs. A commanding 4 goal first period for the Bulldogs saw them hold control for the entire game.

The Oilers scored 4 goals of their own in the second period but were unable to stop the Bulldogs offence from adding another 3 goals of their own.

Each team would both score 2 in third to solidify a victory for the host Bulldogs.

Conyr Hellyer (29), Ryan Neumann (10,11), Jagger Tapper (9), Zeth Kindrachuk (14) and Ty Yoder (14) all scored in the loss for the Oilers.

As for the Canucks they come into this game after a 4-1 win over Whitecourt.

Gavin Schmidt collected 2 points in the game with Max Prazma making 33 saves on 34 shots.

Last matchup

The last time these 2 teams faced off the Oilers snuck away with a 4-3 victory back in December.

Kade Turner and Brett Huxley both collected a pair of assists in the game to secure the win for the Oilers.

This will be the sixth and final time these two teams take on each other this season with the Oilers winning 3 of the previous 5 games.

Milestones

If Conyr Hellyer scores 1 more goal he becomes the 15th Oiler in team history to score 30 goals in a season.

Standings

The Oilers now sit third in the AJHL South division with 69 points meanwhile for the Canucks they sit in the 7th seed with 43 points on the year.
