Tyler Deis is an experienced teacher and coach with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Minnesota State University. After playing in the SJHL, Tyler attended MSU for 4 years where he played Division 1 NCAA hockey. After completing his schooling, Tyler began his professional hockey career playing for the ECHL for 5 years. Tyler returned to Canada in 2005 and began his teaching and coaching career at the Edge School for Athletes. Tyler taught the on-ice Hockey Skill Academy for 9 years, as well as teaching Physical Education and coaching the Edge School Prep team. He was instrumental in developing and administering their well-known elite hockey program. In 2013, Tyler began working in Okotoks where he was the assistant coach of the Okotoks Oilers and an on-ice skill academy instructor with the Foothills School Division PEAK Athletics hockey program and Tanbridge Academy. Coming into our second season with the Oilers Hockey Development Program, Tyler Deis will be heading the program utilizing Oilers alumni, coaches, players and guest instructors under the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Club umbrella. Tyler has an extensive background in hockey as a professional player, and is a Professional Educator.
Reid's focus has been on player development for the Peewee, Bantam, Midget, and Junior age groups and has helped several players graduate to the next level.
A Fitness and Nutrition advocate, Reid is also responsible for off-ice training. He has worked personally with hundreds of athletes to improve not only their game, but also their overall well-being. Reid works with athletes to help them find their next level and push them to new limits on and off the ice. His hockey specific training ensures athletes are making the most of their on and off-ice work.
Reid has been a Skills Coach with Hockey Alberta, participating as an instructor in their Team Alberta/WHL Skills Camp and PeeWee Skills Camp, and has coached at the Alberta Cup. He has also worked for the Gretzky Hockey School as their Plyometric Dryland Trainer. Reid has attended numerous specialty coaching clinics including Checking Skills, Developing Defensemen, Skating, Skills, Small Area Games and Goaltending and is a High Performance 1 Coach with Hockey Alberta.
Reid has been coaching with the Bantam AAA Xtreme since 2014 and works personally with players in leagues such as the Alberta Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League. Reid is entering his first season with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League as their Assistant Director of Hockey Development and Assistant Coach.
Derek is entering his 6th year as a Goalie/Video Coach with the Oilers Organization.
Derek began his coaching career with the Calgary Buffaloes where he spent 6 seasons developing their net minders prior to joining the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. Derek spent 5 seasons with Swift Current while simultaneously coaching the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (CIS). Derek also consults for Hockey Alberta helping with their regional goaltending development and the Under-16 programs. Derek most recently won a silver medal at the 2017 WHL Cup as goaltending coach of Team Alberta.
Derek’s expertise has allowed him to develop minor hockey goaltenders into Junior, Western Hockey League, NCAA, and Professional net minders.
