Home and Home Success

As the AJHL enters the final month of the 2013-14 regular season, the Okotoks Oilers have kicked things off with a bang. February began with a home and home series with the next-door neighbour Calgary Canucks – a pair of games that the Oilers dominated.

Led by back-up goaltender Keelan Williams and a pair of incredible shutouts, the Oilers outscored the Canucks 3-0 in each game. Overall shots in the mini-series were 65-42 in the Oilers favour and goals came from six different players: Clay, Gardner, Dube, Fisher, Edwardh and Hartley.

After picking up an important four points vs the Canucks, the Oilers are now only two points behind Drumheller for second place. The Canmore Eagles are still right behind the Oilers, trailing by only two points. With only nine games left in the regular season, watch out for some high-intensity hockey as teams look to improve their playoff positioning heading into the postseason.
