CALGARY, AB (March 26, 2021) ““ Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, AB) scored two goals in his return to the lineup, and Carson Dyck (Lethbridge, AB) scored the overtime winner, as the Okotoks Oilers (6-1) extended their winning streak to three with a 3-2 victory on the road against the Calgary Canucks on Friday night.
After Calgary erased the 2-0 Oiler lead with two power play goals in less than two minutes in the middle frame, a scoreless third period pushed the Oilers to extra time for the first time in the abbreviated season.
Goaltender Parker Sawka (Cochrane, AB) stopped 33 of 35 Calgary shots to extend his record to 3-0 on the year, as the Oilers outshot the Canucks 39-35 despite a 6-4 power play disadvantage.

Kindrachuk”™s first came 6:18 into the opening period on wrist shot from the slot off the rush, on Okotoks”™ first power play of the game. In the second, with the Oilers on an early penalty kill, Dyck fed Kindrachuk perfectly for a backdoor one-timer, a shorthanded goal, and a 2-0 Okotoks lead.
But the Oilers would be called for two more penalties subsequently, with Calgary converting on both power plays; the first a Jaxsen Wyatt shot from the point at 1:16, and the second a turnaround wrister from the high slot by Dylan Clark that tied the game at the 3:15 mark.
The rest of regulation saw both Sawka and Calgary counterpart Adam Dmyterko play perfectly, leading the teams to the extra frame and giving Calgary its first standings point of the season.
On an early rush, Brayden Morrison (Calgary, AB) drove down the left side into the Canuck zone, evading a Calgary defender and bursting in on goal for a point blank shot which Dmyterko stopped. But the rebound lay stationary on the Calgary goal line, and a sweeping-in Dyck tapped it home to give the Oilers the dramatic win exactly one minute into overtime.
The Oilers are off Saturday before returning home to the Pason Centennial Arena on Sunday afternoon to host the Brooks Bandits at 4:30 PM. Live game coverage is available on The Eagle 100.9 FM and OkotoksOnline.com.
