Magowan Signs with Oilers

Released Wednesday August 19, 2020

Okotoks, AB ? The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce the signing of 2003-born defenseman Logan Magowan (Calgary, Alberta) for the 2020-21 season.

Magowan comes to the Oilers through the Calgary Buffaloes and Midnapore Minor Hockey Associations where he was an assistant captain for the U18 AAA Buffaloes this past year. The 5?9?, 160lbs. defenseman has a history of success winning both the Mac?s U18 AAA Tournament (2019/20) and Alberta U18 AAA Championship (2018/19). Magowan led all Buffalo defensemen in regular season points (15) and was eighth in league penalty minutes with 77 PIM through the 2019/20 season.

Oilers Head Coach / General Manager / Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis says, Magowan?s leadership and competitiveness will allow him to adjust well to Oiler hockey.

?Logan is a consistent and sound defenseman with great leadership traits. He dressed in 2 games with us (Jr. ?A? Oilers) this past year and adapted well to the pace of play and varying situations. His composure with the puck, skating ability, and positional awareness are exactly what we are looking for on the back end. We are extremely excited to have Logan join our organization.?

Magowan will be amongst familiar faces when he?s reunited with former teammates, Dylan James and Bowden Singleton, when the Oilers get underway for the 2020/21 season.
