OKOTOKS, AB (April 13, 2022) — Logan Magowan (Calgary, AB) scored his first Alberta Junior Hockey League goal but it wasn't enough for his Okotoks Oilers to avoid elimination at the hands of the Brooks Bandits in Game 4 of their Viterra AJHL South Final playoff series.

The Bandits finished off a four-game series sweep of the Oilers with a 3–1 victory on Wednesday, taking a 2–0 lead in the second period before re-establishing their two-goal cushion just 18 seconds after Magowan tallied early in the final frame.

The Oilers’ 2021–22 season is now over. After finishing fourth in the South with a 28–28–4 record during the regular season, the Oilers swept the Blackfalds Bulldogs in the first round before defeating the Drumheller Dragons in six games to set up a 2019 rematch with Brooks.

It took the Bandits six games to defeat the Oilers in the third round of the 2019 playoffs; this time around, they advanced in the minimum four contests. Brooks outscored Okotoks by a 20–7 margin in the series.

After going toe-to-toe with the Bandits in the first period on Wednesday, the Oilers conceded the game's first goal to Game 3 overtime hero Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) 5:35 into the middle frame. Bandits defenceman Zach Bookman (Syracuse, NY) doubled the visitors’ lead less than three minutes later.

Magowan got the Oilers on the board with a long-range floater that eluded Bandits goaltender Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) at the 1:24 mark of the third period. Entering Wednesday's game, Magowan had appeared in 65 contests with the Oilers without recording a goal.

Bandits defenceman Brendan Kennette (Belle River, ON) struck back just 18 seconds later to make it 3–1, which would stand through the end of regulation time as the final score.

Playing in his final AJHL game, Oilers goaltender Jack McNaughton (Calgary, AB) stopped 32 of the 35 Bandits shots he faced. Graduating Oilers 20-year-olds Riley Bodnarchuk (Okotoks, AB), Brendan Boyle (Lake Country, BC), and McNaughton were named the game's three stars at Pason Centennial Arena.
