DRUMHELLER, AB (October 27, 2023) — The Okotoks Oilers (8-6-1) rode a dominant four-goal first period to a huge 7-2 win over the Drumheller Dragons on Thursday night.
Outshooting their opposition 21-2 in the opening frame, the Oilers got goals from Jack Silverberg (Sherwood Park, AB), Hayden Fechner (Edmonton, AB), Brett Huxley (Calgary, AB), and Connor Gourley (Calgary, AB) in one of their best road starts of the year.
In the second, veteran defenceman Ethan O’Halloran (Calgary, AB) was the star. After Drumheller scored on a 5-on-3 early in the period, O’Halloran tallied on a rebound shot from the right circle for his team-leading third power play goal of the year. Huxley scored his second of the game a few minutes later, finishing a 2-on-1 rush with Sam Huck (Calgary, AB) before O’Halloran threaded the needle on a point shot at 18:27 for his second of the game and career-high fourth of the season.
Drumheller scored shorthanded early in the third on an Adam Raesler goal, but Christian Green (Boothwyn, PA) shut the door the rest of the way, stopping 21 of 23 shots in the win, with the Oilers outshooting the Dragons 46-23 in the game.
Okotoks will return home for a Friday night matchup with the Lloydminster Bobcats at 7 PM. Tickets are available online at tickets.okotoksoilers.ca.
