The Okotoks Oilers have traded 1995 born defenseman Drew Weich to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL for 1994 born defenseman Darian Henry. Henry, from Strathmore Alberta, has played the last two seasons with the Bulldogs recording 16 goals, 43 points and 127 penalty minutes in 65 games played. Prior to Alberni Valley, Henry spent time with the Everett Silvertips, Regina Pats and Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.
“It is always tough trading away good people as such is the case with Drew who was not only a good player for the Oilers but also a great ambassador for the Oilers program within the community of Okotoks,” states Oilers coach James Poole. “In acquiring Darian we are adding a great shot from the point, power play skills and toughness on our back-end which are some elements that we needed to be successful moving forward.”
The Oilers would like to welcome Darian to the organization, and at the same time thank Drew for his much appreciated contribution to the Oilers and wish him the best of luck in Alberni Valley.
