Oilers Austin Wong Drafted by Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Jets announced today they selected forward Austin Wong with the 215th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.

Wong, 17, tallied 54 points (25G, 29A) and 235 penalty minutes in 55 games with the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Okotoks Oilers last season. In two seasons with Okotoks, the product of Cochrane, Alta. has 74 points (35G, 39A) in 108 games.

He is committed to play in the NCAA with Harvard University.

Cale Makar (Brooks Bandits) is the highest-ever drafted player from the Alberta Junior Hockey League, chosen fourth overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft.  88 players have been drafted directly from the Alberta Junior Hockey League since 1980.
