OKOTOKS, AB (September 14, 2023) — The Okotoks Oilers have completed two trades ahead of the kickoff of the 2023-24 AJHL season, the team announced today.
The larger of the two trades sees the rights to 2004-born forward Ryan Neumann (Calgary, AB), 2004-born defenceman Jace Moffatt (Cochrane, AB), and 2005-born goaltender Cameron Doucette (Calgary, AB) sent to the Drayton Valley Thunder in exchange for the rights to 2005-born forward Hayden Fechner (Edmonton, AB) and 2004-born forward Jack Silverberg (Sherwood Park, AB).

Moffatt, 18, scored 12 points (2 goals, 12 assists) in 52 games with 79 penalty minutes last season in his rookie campaign after playing with the team as an affiliate the prior year. Doucette, 18, signed this season after an AEHL Top Goaltender award-winning season with the U18 Northstars.
Fechner, 18, is a two-year veteran of the AJHL with Drayon Valley, with 71 games under his belt for the South Side Athletic Club graduate. Silverberg, 18, had 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 44 games with DV last season, his second in the AJHL, and is currently playing in exhibition with Cedar Rapids of the USHL.
In the other trade, the Oilers sent the rights to 2004-born forward Raine Hodge (Eden Mills, ON) to the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) in exchange for future considerations. Hodge scored 4 points in 7 preseason games with the Oilers in the last two seasons, while moving to the NCDC in 2022-23.
