Oilers Hellyer, Huck, Wolfenberg to play for Canada at WJAC

OKOTOKS, AB (December 8, 2022) — For the first time in franchise history, three Okotoks Oilers will suit up for Team Canada West at the annual World Junior A Challenge tournament.

Forwards Conyr Hellyer (Okotoks, AB), Sam Huck (Calgary, AB), and Nick Wolfenberg (Calgary, AB) were named to the 22-man roster for the team today.

Okotoks also had two players named to the 2019 event (Dylan Holloway and Austin Wong) and 2018 event (Dylan Holloway and Jacob Bernard-Docker).

Hellyer, 18, leads the team in scoring with 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists) in 27 games, ranking 5th in the league in goals and 13th in points.

Huck, 18, has scored 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 20 games.

Wolfenberg, 18, has scored 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) in 27 games, and is the 10th-highest scoring defenceman in the AJHL.

The three will open their international career on December 11th when Canada West takes on the United States in Cornwall, ON, after a pre-season warmup on Friday against Latvia.

All round robin and semifinal games of the tournament will be broadcast on HockeyCanada.ca, with the final and bronze medal games broadcast on TSN.
