OKOTOKS, AB (July 7, 2021) ““ The Okotoks Oilers join the Town of Okotoks community in mourning today”™s passing of longtime Mayor Bill Robertson.
Robertson served as Mayor for the past 11 years, and has been on Town Council since 1995, with a career in municipal government spanning the full lifetime of the Oiler organization.
“Bill was a major supporter of our organization, and played a huge role in getting our franchise to Okotoks,” said Chairman of the Board Wayne Lauinger. “He was always willing to attend meetings and speak on our behalf, bringing untold benefits and longevity to our team. He will be sorely missed by our fans and our organization, and we offer our deepest condolences to his family.”
Robertson”™s tenure as Mayor included the twinning of the Pason Centennial Arenas, which helped position Okotoks as home to one of the province”™s best overall facilities for minor sport, as well as the hosting of the CJHL Prospects Game and initial bids for more major hockey events to come to the town.
