Oilers name Jamernik Team Captain for the 2020-21 Season

Okotoks, AB ? The Okotoks Oilers are proud to announce their Captain for the 2020-21 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.

Third year forward and Alternate Captain on the 2019-20 edition of the Oilers, Louis Jamernik (Calgary, AB) will wear the ?C? in his final season of junior hockey.
Jamernik, 20, had a career season (2019-20) with the Oilers holding the team?s fifth place scoring notch with 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists) in 53 regular season games.

Oilers Head Coach / General Manager Tyler Deis says having the veteran forward lead his team into the fall will only help pick-up where the team left off before the COVID-19 pandemic, abrupt finish that ended the team?s hopes for their first league title.

?Louis has become a complete player at both ends of rink,? he says. ?He has had the opportunity to play with many great players who have passed through our program.  He has learned what it takes to be an effective player while also being a strong and positive influence in our locker room and out in the community.?

Jamernik in 147 career AJHL games, including 104 in an Oiler uniform, has accumulated 107 points (43 goals, 64 assists) along with 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) in 29 AJHL playoff games in his AJHL career. During the past season Jamernik was invited to the Team Canada West selection camp for the 2019 World Junior ?A? Challenge and made a commitment to the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the NCAA?s NCHC Conference for the 2021-22 season.

Louis takes over the Oilers captaincy from Ayden Roche-Setoguchi who graduated from the Oilers program this past season.

The Oilers Organization would like to congratulate both Louis and his family for this incredible honour and accomplishment. The rest of the Oilers leadership group will be named once the 2020-21 team selections have been solidified for the up coming season.
