Oilers sign former Medicine Hat captain Owen MacNeil

OKOTOKS, AB (October 6, 2023) — The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have signed 2003-born forward Owen MacNeil (Calgary, AB), the team announced today.

MacNeil, 20, was team captain for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, for whom he scored 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists) in 66 games.

The 6’1″, 180lb forward brings a wealth of junior hockey experience to the Oilers with 197 total regular season games under his belt; 201 with playoffs. MacNeil tallied 60 total points between Medicine Hat and Spokane over four seasons, after advancing from the U18 Calgary Royals.
