Okotoks Oilers defenceman Nick Wolfenberg (Calgary, AB) has been named the AJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar Showcase weekend.

The second year Oiler had two helpers in a narrow loss to Bonnyville on Friday, and followed that up with a highlight reel goal and an assist in the team’s dominant 7-0 win over Drayton Valley.

That followed up a 2-point performance in Calgary on Tuesday night, for a six-point week.

Wolfenberg currently leads the Oilers in scoring and is the second-highest scoring defenceman in the AJHL.

Originally recruited from NAX prep in Edmonton, Wolfenberg scored 13 points in 36 games in his rookie campaign last year, a season that earned him an NHL Central Scouting ranking at the end of the season.
