Okotoks, Alberta – The Okotoks Oilers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is proud to announce that 20-year old forward Cory Santoro (Kelowna, BC) has committed to Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder members of ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) for the 2017-18 season.
Santoro began his career in Kelowna, BC where he played his minor hockey before joining the Oilers this past October for the remainder of the 2016-17 season after a trade with the Lloydminster Bobcats. Over the past three years in the AJHL, Cory has played a total of 171 games with 31 goals and 77 assists for a career total of 108 points. In 47 games dawning the Oilers Green & Gold, Santoro notched 10 goals and 12 assists.
Head Coach & Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis, states “Cory brought an element of experience and leadership to our dressing room. Being a leader both on and off the ice, we expect that Cory will have a strong impact in the Thunder dressing room next season.”
The Oilers Organization would like to wish both Cory and his family the best in his future academic and athletic endeavors.
Santoro is the 6th Oiler to commit to a post-secondary institution in the 2016-17 season joining Jacob Bernard-Docker (University of North Dakota), Jordan Xavier (University of Alaska Anchorage), Tanner Laderoute University of Alaska Anchorage), Trey de Graaf (University of Alaska Anchorage), and Jordan Davies (SAIT).
