Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are proud to announce that 2001 born defenseman, Eric Parker (Calgary, AB) has committed to the Bowling Green University Falcons.

Located in Bowling Green, Ohio, the Falcons play in the NCAA?s Western Collegiate Hockey Association Conference under first year Head Coach, Ty Eigner. The Falcons have won five conference championships, participated in 10 NCAA tournaments, including two trips to the Frozen Four and one NCAA Championship in 1984.
Parker, 18, is in his sophomore season with the Oilers where he currently has thirteen points (4 goals, 19 assists) in 26 games played.

In his rookie season with the Oilers, Parker had 30 points (5 goals, 25 assists) in 57 games played.  In the 2018-19 AJHL Playoffs, Parker had six points (1 goal, 5 assists) in his first post season appearance with the Green and Gold.

Oilers Head Coach / General Manager / Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis says that Parker?s growth over the past season has shown the Oilers what it takes to become a strong defender in the AJHL and that has translated to his commitment.

?Eric came into our program at seventeen years old and he did what was asked of him and then some,? Deis says. ?As the season progressed and we ran into a tough spot due to injuries, Eric became a leader on our back-end.  This experience and development has made him one of the top defenseman in our program.?

Parker was also a member of Team AJHL at this Summer?s Junior Club World Cup (JCWC) where he had one point (1 assist) in 5 games helping the AJHL to a silver medal at the tournament.

The Oilers would like to congratulate Eric and his family on his achievement and to thank them for their dedication to our organization and the Okotoks community both on and off the ice.

Eric is the 4th Oiler on the 2019-20 roster to commit to a NCAA Division I Institution as he joins:

Carson Dyck (Penn State University)
Dylan James (University of North Dakota
Brett Moravec (University of Wisconsin)
