Okotoks Oilers Home Opener set for September 24th

OKOTOKS, AB (June 28, 2021) ““ Junior hockey is coming back to Okotoks this fall, with the announcement of the Junior A Oilers”™ home opener today by the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

The Oilers will host the Canmore Eagles at Pason Centennial Arena on Friday, September 24th to kick off the home portion of their schedule, marking the first time in 15 years that the Eagles have been the team”™s home opener opponent.

In the last one, on September 16, 2006, the Oilers beat Canmore 5-4 in front of a crowd of 1,230, featuring a two-goal night from forward Cole Geddes.

The AJHL schedule will kick off on Friday, September 17th, with the Oilers playing on the road for the opening weekend.

The team will return to the standard 60-game AJHL schedule for 2021-22, featuring 29 home games, 29 road games, and two Showcase games in Brooks.

Early bird season ticket sales and season ticket renewals will begin in early July, as the Oilers look forward to welcoming their fans back to the rink. Details will be available on OkotoksOilers.ca.
