The Okotoks Oilers are very pleased to announce that they have been selected as the Okotoks and Area Chamber of Commerce Not-for-Profit of the Year. In a red carpet dinner and awards night, Oilers President Wayne Lauinger and Marketing Manager Brenden Anderson accepted the prestigious award on the team's behalf.
The Oilers were up against some stiff competition in the Not-for-Profit category including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Bibles for Missions. The team was very honoured to have been nominated nonetheless selected as the winner. In ten seasons in Okotoks, this year marks the first time that the Oilers have been nominated for a Business Excellence Award.
“I think it is a great accomplishment for the team. We are here to provide our young athletes the coaching, mentorship and advice they need to reach their dreams of playing hockey at a higher level.” states Marketing Manager Brenden Anderson. “We try to do this while also putting out a great experience for our loyal fans and community members. It's not easy, but we have an outstanding group of volunteers, billets, staff members and Directors that all work together to keep the ball rolling. We are very honoured to have been recognized by our community with this award.”
