OKOTOKS, AB (June 22, 2022) ““ The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League will open their 18th season of play on Friday, September 16th, it was announced today.
The team will start with a back-to-back road series in Camrose against the Kodiaks on the 16th and 17th before returning to Okotoks for their home opener on Friday, September 23rd against the Olds Grizzlys at 7:00 PM.
A home-game packed October will see the Oilers host the Brooks Bandits for a key matchup on Saturday, October 8th, before the second annual Thanksgiving Day game brings the Olds Grizzlys to town on Monday, October 10th.
The team”™s School Day game, originally scheduled in the cancelled 2020-21 regular season, has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 13th when the Oilers host the Grande Prairie Storm with an 11:30 AM puck drop, with schools across the region invited to pack the arena.
Family Day hockey will once again return to Okotoks with the Oilers hosting the Calgary Canucks on Monday, February 20th, in a month that features two more heated rivalry games with Brooks and the annual Awards Night on Friday, March 3rd against Drumheller.
In all, the team”™s 29 home games will consist of 11 Saturday nights, 10 Friday nights, four Tuesday nights, two holiday Monday games, one Sunday matinee, and one Thursday School Day game.
Pre-season this year will bring four home games to the Oilers; hosting Brooks in Okotoks on Friday, September 3rd, then taking on the Calgary Canucks on Tuesday September 7th, Brooks once again on Friday, September 9th, and then the British Columbia Hockey League”™s Cranbrook Bucks on Sunday, September 11th.
Season tickets will be on sale momentarily, providing access to 32 total home games (4 preseason, 28 regular season) with early bird discounts in place until the end of day July 28th!
