OKOTOKS, AB (September 28, 2021) ““ The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed 2001-born forward Carter Massier (Peace River, AB), the team announced today.

Massier, 20, comes to the Oilers after spending the last three seasons with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL), wherein he scored 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 95 career games.

“We”™re excited to bring a player of Carter”™s calibre into our young lineup,” said Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis. “He brings a level of experience and leadership, as well as skill, and we”™re looking forward to see the influence he can have on this group.”

Massier was a second-team Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL) all-star in 2017-18 when he led the Grande Prairie AAA Storm in scoring with 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) in 35 games. He was the sixth-highest goal scorer and eleventh-highest point scorer in the league that season. With Regina, his best season came in last year”™s COVID-shortened campaign, where he totalled 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 24 games, and was the team”™s seventh-highest scoring player.

He is expected to make his Okotoks debut on Thursday night when the Oilers take on the Spruce Grove Saints to open their 2021 AJHL Showcase schedule at 7:30 PM.
