Nolan Flint (Beaverlodge, AB) opened the offence 11:59 into the game with the eventual deciding goal, streaking into the Calgary zone along the left side and popping the water bottle behind Canuck goalie Sam Philpott with a top corner wrister to make it 1-0. Eric Parker (Calgary, AB) tallied his first of the year with a low slap shot from the point at 17:08, and less than a minute later, the rookie Huxley converted on a net front scramble, sweeping home his first career marker to give Okotoks a 3-0 advantage.
The only marker in the second was Spak”™s first career goal, notched at the 3:38 mark when he collected a wide point shot that ricocheted off the end wall and bounced out the right side of the net for a quick tap-in and a 4-0 lead for the home side.
Cale Sanders (Claresholm, AB) made it 5-0 just five minutes into the third when he carried into the offensive zone and fired a quick wrist shot in from the high slot. Three more power play goals capped off the scoring for Okotoks; the first a Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) rocket from the left circle, the second a Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB) point shot, and the third a Blake Jacques (Winnipeg, MB) wrist shot from the slot.
The Oilers”™ next scheduled game comes Saturday night when they travel to Brooks to take on the undefeated Bandits at 7:00 PM, with radio coverage available on The Eagle 100.9.
