Rieger Lorenz, Jack McNaughton nominated for AJHL Awards

OKOTOKS, AB (February 23, 2022) ““ Okotoks Oilers players Jack McNaughton (Calgary, AB) and Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) have been named finalists for four of the Alberta Junior Hockey League”™s annual awards.

McNaughton was nominated in the Top Goaltender category, while Lorenz made the final four in three categories: Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and the newly-created Top Forward award.

Lorenz, 17, sits fifth in the AJHL in the scoring race and second among rookies in points, recording 83 points (37 goals, 46 assists) in 57 games. His 37 goals rank fourth in the AJHL and first among rookies as well, with a league-leading five shorthanded goals this season too.

McNaughton, 20, ranks sixth among qualifying goalies in save percentage and second in the AJHL in goals against average, posting a 14-8-2 record with a 2.35 GAA and .909 save percentage since joining the team early in the season. He is also tied for the league lead in shutouts, having recorded four this season.

The award winners will be revealed at the end of the regular season following another round of voting by the league”™s coaches.
