Rieger Lorenz named finalist for CJHL Top Rookie

OKOTOKS, AB (May 4, 2022) ““ Okotoks Oilers forward Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) is one of five nominees for the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Top Rookie Award, it was announced this week.

Lorenz was chosen among the top rookies of the nine Junior A leagues that comprise the CJHL, alongside winners from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, Ontario Junior Hockey League, and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

The 17-year old recently completed his Team Canada debut, donning the maple leaf for his country at the IIHF U18 World Championships. Ranked 24th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the upcoming draft, Lorenz set franchise records for goals and points by a rookie this past season, recording 85 points (38 goals, 47 assists) in 60 games this season.
