OKOTOKS, AB (January 12, 2022) ““ For the second consecutive week, and third time this season, Okotoks Oilers forward Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) has been named AJHL Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.
It comes on the same day the rookie Oiler forward was ranked the highest CJHL player in NHL Central Scouting”™s midterm rankings.
Lorenz scored nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in his last five games spanning the December 29th ““ January 9th date range for the award, extending his career-best point streak to 10 consecutive games on the scoresheet. As the reigning AJHL Player of the Month for December, Lorenz now sits fourth overall in the AJHL scoring race with 63 points (26 goals, 37 assists), ranking second among rookies in points and first among rookies in goals.
It”™s the fourth time an Oiler has won the award this season; Lorenz”™s fellow NHL Draft prospect Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB) won it for the week of October 4th ““ 10th.
