UPDATE: This past Sunday December 8 the Sheep River Health Trust Avenue of Trees Auction took place. With the help of the Okotoks Oilers and many other local businesses, they were able to raise over $5000 to help with healthcare programs throughout the Foothills!!
As a part of the second annual Sheep River Health Trust Avenue of Trees, the Okotoks Oilers have put together a wonderful tree that will be auctioned off to one lucky winner on December 8th at a live auction held at the Okotoks Rec Centre. If you are up at the Rec Centre, make sure to stop and take a peek at our tree! There is also a picture up on our Facebook page as well.
The Sheep River Health Trust uses this program to raise funds to enhance health care facilities and wellness programs in the Foothills region including Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Longview, Millarville, Priddis, DeWinton and the rural areas between them.
Trees will be judged by local celebrities and the public. In the spirit of giving, winning bidders may gift the tree to local families in need; another way to make a difference in the community at Christmas time.
New for this year, the Sheep River Health Trust will be featuring each tree on their Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/SheepRiverHealthTrust) and the tree that receives the most likes will win the Tree of Choice Award for 2013. The Tree Sponsor will receive a $250 Sobey's Gift Card (enough to supply a full Christmas Dinner for a family) to donate to a Charity of their choice in the Sheep River Health Trust Region. We need all of the votes we can get, so get voting fans!
