VIDEO: Massier scores in return as Oilers down Eagles 3-1

OKOTOKS, AB (January 7, 2022) ““ Carter Massier (Peace River, AB) scored in his first game since October 5, as the Okotoks Oilers (18-19-2) beat the visiting Canmore Eagles 3-1 on Friday night.

Jack McNaughton (Calgary, AB) made 23 saves for the win, as the Oilers outshot Canmore 35-24 in the game.

Massier”™s goal came 11:06 into the game when Riley Bodnarchuk (Okotoks, AB) fed him a perfect cross-crease pass from the left side for a quick one-timer. The Oilers then doubled their lead 2:19 into the second on a power play point shot goal from Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB), before Canmore got on the board with a Mitchell Watson breakaway goal at the 14:26 mark.

Soon after, Canmore looked certain to tie the game on a perfectly played 2-on-1, but McNaughton came across on the pass and denied a shot with a diving save to keep his team ahead by one.

In the third, Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) fed a pass from the left corner to a waiting Conyr Hellyer (Okotoks, AB) at the left side of the net for a one-timer goal and a 3-1 Okotoks final score.

The Oilers finish their weeklong homestand with a Saturday night matchup with the Brooks Bandits at 7 PM. Tickets are available online at tickets.okotoksoilers.ca.
