VIDEO: Oilers beat Storm 6-3 in comeback fashion on Christmas Jersey Night

OKOTOKS, AB (December 16, 2021) ““ The Okotoks Oilers erased a 2-0 deficit after the first period to take down the visiting Grande Prairie Storm 6-3 on Thursday night on Ugly Christmas Sweater Jersey Night at Pason Centennial Arena.

Donning intentionally horrific green jerseys with candy cane striping, the Oilers fell behind 2-0 after 20 on Storm goals by Edge Lambert and Evan Gass.

But capturing the spirit of the season, they scored four consecutive times in the second, on a sharp angle shot from Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB), at 5:03, shots off the rush from Sam Huck (Calgary, AB) and Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB) at 6:13 and 7:23 respectively, and a tipped point shot by Brendan Boyle (Lake Country, BC) at 14:13 to make it 4-2 after 40.

In the third, GP pulled closer on a Robert Pizzey goal 2:39 in, but Riley Bodnarchuk (Okotoks, AB) got the crowd up with a great individual effort, driving down the right wall, cutting in front of the Storm net and tucking a low shot in to make it 5-3. Tucker McRae (Calgary, AB) would cap off the scoring with a slap shot goal at 11:40 for a 6-3 final.

The Oilers outshot the Storm 32-20 in the game, with goalie Parker Sawka (Cochrane, AB) making 17 saves for the win. They”™ll head to Drumheller on Friday night to cap off the pre-Christmas schedule, taking on the Dragons at 7 PM with pre-game coverage at 6:45 on The Eagle 100.9.
