CALGARY, AB (December 31, 2021) ““ Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) had a hat trick, while Bowden Singleton (Calgary, AB) added two goals of his own, as the Okotoks Oilers ended 2021 with a demolition of the host Calgary Canucks, winning 10-0 on Friday afternoon at the newly renovated Max Bell Centre.

Conyr Hellyer (Okotoks, AB) opened the scoring just 3:02 into the game on a net-front one-timer, before Nolan Flint (Beaverlodge, AB) doubled the lead on a wrist shot from the right circle. On the ensuing faceoff, the Oilers carried in and fed Dean Spak (Calgary, AB) for a wraparound goal just 9 seconds later to make it 3-0 and force a Canuck goaltending change.

Singleton”™s first came at the 14:54 mark of the first on a power play point shot, and he opened the second period scoring as well just 1:33 in on a great cross-slot pass from Hellyer. Lorenz then went to work with a short-side snipe at 5:30 and a one-timer from the slot at 8:07 to make it 7-0.

In the third, the Oilers outshot the Canucks by a comical 19-0 margin, adding a powerplay goal from Kade Turner (Calgary, AB), and goals from Austin Reschny (Macklin, SK) and Lorenz”™s hat trick marker to make it a 10-0 final.

Jack McNaughton (Calgary, AB) made 20 saves for his third shutout of the season, as Okotoks outshot the Canucks 50-20.
