OKOTOKS, AB (October 15, 2021) ““ The Okotoks Oilers (7-4) gave up three goals in the opening 3:31 of Friday night”™s game, and it would be more than the visiting Drumheller Dragons would need, as they cruised to a 6-1 win, snapping Okotoks”™ 4-game win streak.
Okotoks was outshot 34-22 in the game, and drop to fourth place in the AJHL South division, one point back of now-third place Drumheller.
Sam Simard scored on the team”™s first shot of the game just 16 seconds in on a turnaround wrister from the slot, and the rout was on after Simard”™s second just 2 minutes later, and a Vann Yuhas goal at 3:31 made it 3-0.
Drumheller converted on the power play 4:27 into the second on a Carter Belitski goal, and he then made it 5-0 with his second of the game 68 seconds later. Brody Spencer-Ha (Okotoks, AB) was the lone bright spot with his first AJHL goal on a shorthanded breakaway at 14:21, but despite a 12-8 shot advantage for the Oilers in the third, the only goal would be a Cyle Clayton power play marker to notch the 6-1 final.
The Oilers will host the Camrose Kodiaks on Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available online at tickets.okotoksoilers.ca.
