VIDEO: Oilers’ losing streak hits 4 after 4-1 loss to Fort McMurray

OKOTOKS, AB (November 5, 2021) ““ The Okotoks Oilers (8-10-1) saw their home losing streak extend to seven, after a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Friday night.

The Oilers were outshot 34-16 in the game, in front of a season-high crowd of 998 at Pason Centennial Arena.

Jesse Burchart opened the scoring 2:55 in on a backdoor cross-slot pass off the rush, before Tyler Wallace doubled the lead at 8:38 on the power play, one-timing in another cross-ice pass from Hassan Akl. Akl got his own goal at 14:44 of the second after a defensive zone turnover by the Oilers.


Okotoks got on the board 5:35 into the third when Ty Yoder (Tofield, AB) slapped home a deflected puck from the right point, but Max McCoy sealed it with an empty netter at 17:41 to seal the 4-1 final.

The Oilers will next hit the road to take on the Canmore Eagles on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM. The game can be heard live on The Eagle 100.9 starting at 6:45.
