The Okotoks Oilers have added some much needed scoring punch to their forward line-up after a trade with the Calgary Mustangs on Sunday.

The Oilers have acquired 19 year old forward Jordan Xavier for second year forward Cooper Page along with both teams exchanging future considerations following this season.

Xavier comes to the team as the Mustangs leading scorer with 16 goals and 14 assists and was selected to the Team Canada West World Junior 'A' Challenge camp but was on a Mustangs team for the span of almost three season which endured a lot of setbacks from an AJHL record breaking 29 game losing streak and in hard times this season already with just five wins and dead last in the league.

Xavier is looking forward to the opportunity to have a shot at competing at a higher level the rest of the season.

“Okotoks is a fairly physical team and they're all over you so to be on the home end of it, it's going to be nice for a change,” he says. “It will be close to home, it will be easy for my family to make it to a lot of games and that's really important to me so I'm happy to be here.”

The former Calgary Northstar says he's looking forward to the opportunity to help the Oilers become a serious threat in the 2016-17 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.

“It's going to take a little bit of time to transition over, I think I bring than just scoring goals, I think I can play a solid 200 foot game and I'm not afraid to dish it off either there's a lot of good players here so feeding other people isn't going to be a hard task as I know they'll do their jobs too.”
