A turnover by the Oilers in their own end led to a Ty Daneault goal just over six minutes into the game, giving the Dragons the early lead. But less than a minute later, Yoder scored his first on a net front tip set up by Sam Huck (Calgary, AB) to tie it up, and Connor Gourley (Calgary, AB) finished off a 2-on-1 with Conyr Hellyer (Okotoks, AB) at 14:20 to make it a 2-1 game.
In the second, Ryan Neumann (Calgary, AB) shoveled home a Logan Magowan (Calgary, AB) setup at 2:33 to make it 3-1, but the Dragons responded with a power play rebound goal from Vann Yuhas to cut their deficit to just one.
In the third, however, the Oilers pulled away, getting Yoder’s second on a blast from the right point, and an empty netter from Jackson Rowland to seal the 5-2 final.
The Oilers outshot Drumheller 37-25 in the game, going 2 for 4 on the power play and 3 for 4 on the penalty kill, with Parker Sawka (Cochrane, AB) making 23 saves for his 9th victory of the season.
